Writing Update for September

Okay so it’s been a while since I’ve posted about where I’m at with my writing so thought it was about time to give you all an update.

Guerra is done and is currently under consideration over at ChiZine Publications, who did my previous book, Katja From The Punk Band and I hope to hear back from them some time in October or so whether they are interested in publishing it or not.  Some of that decision might depend on how well Katja has done so if you haven’t already, go grab yourself a copy now and/or shout about how great it is :)

In regards to what I’m working on now, I’ve put aside the Lynchian detective story I’d started on in between drafts of KFTPB and am now preparing to start on another project, title (at least for now) lovejunky. You might or might recognise that title as being the same as a short story which I wrote for the Alterati website a few years ago (you can read the story and comment on it here) and there is a relationship to it, of a sort, but it’s a vague one.

The story is in part cleaved from an unfinished novel which I wrote 100,000 words of then trunked, it was one of the two main threads of the book and although I had been considering going back to rework that one I ended up deciding to focus on just the one part which I felt worked the best.  I’m in the planning stages now but, for various reasons which I won’t go into right now (cue mysterious music…), I need to write this one quicker than I ever have before – possibly in two months or less – so it’s going to be a real challenge.

Check back soon for updates on the novel’s progress as well as raw excerpts.

  1. Two months?! Good luck! That sounds like a *fun* challenge, if you ask me.

Here’s to hoping Guerra gets a home – it sounds good to me.

Thanks Melissa I hope so too – if not with CZP then perhaps somewhere else.

And ask me again how fun the challenge is in a month or two’s time when I’m running on 4 hours sleep a night .. :)
