KFTPB Now Available To Buy!

Thursday, April 15th, 2010

Today marks the official launch of the trade paperback edition of KATJA FROM THE PUNK BAND so to all of you who pre-ordered it, your copies will be with you very shortly if they aren’t already there.

For those of you who haven’t gotten your copy, or for whom the fancy-schmancy limited edition hardcover was too expensive, then this also fantastic edition should do you nicely.  It’s got a beautful matte finish and embossing on both the front and spine, I’m so pleased with what Brett and everyone at ChiZine have produced here, so you should all be really happy with the book itself even if you don’t like the story …

Not only is the TPB out but there’s also an electronic version of it for those of you with E-Readers, Kindles and the like which you can get from Horror Mall who also did the hardcover at the stunning price of only $5.95!  So keep yourselves company on the daily commute by stuffing your head full of the punky, anarchic and downright grimy delights of Katja From The Punk Band …

WHC 2010 (Non) Attendance

Monday, March 22nd, 2010

It is with reluctance that I’m having to announce that I will NOT be attending the World Horror Convention this year as previously announced and therefore won’t be at the launch party which ChiZine Publications are throwing for their books.

I’m really bummed about not being able to go but it just wasn’t working out for us financially and time-wise to make it (awkward enough figuring out babysitting for three days but figure into that dog and cat-sitting too and it just wasn’t happening).  We tried various ways and means to see what could be done but when socket A went into plug B socket C would pop out and so we’ve had to call it off.

With that said there will still be a bunch of other authors there for the launch party so it’s still well worth anyone’s attendance and it sounds like it will be a good one.

So good luck to the other ChiZine authors (Philip Nutman, Tim Lebbon, Douglas Smith, Gemma Files, David Nickle and Claude Lalumiere) who will be there and good luck to Sandra and Brett too.

Maybe next time.

SF Site Featured Review of Cinema Spec

Monday, February 8th, 2010

SF site have a review of Cinema Spec online now which features my story Nuclear Shadows.

“The ultra-short stories manage to cling together and coalesce into a strange dystopian image of what people believe Hollywood to be. They’re a quick read, but form a cohesive fantasy world that is not only an homage but a sly parody and tribute to the silver screen….”

Katja FTPB Hardcover – Time Is Running Out!

Monday, January 4th, 2010

Okay everyone, now that the holiday season is behind us it’s time to get your rotten little fingers out and grab your copy of the Katja From The Punk Band hardcover whilst you still can – orders are only open until the end of this month and once that time has passed you won’t be able to order a copy anywhere!

Remember that as well as being a beautifully-produced edition that will be extremely limited and rare it will also featured several extra goodies that will only appear in this edition and not the paperback when that is released later in the year.  We’re still finalising exactly what those goodies will be but they will definitely include a brand new short story written exclusively for the hardback edition.

In addition I’m going to be running an extra special prize of a signed copy of the Russian translation of I-O.  I’ll publish the full details of this unique prize over the next few days but basically anybody who pre-orders a copy of the hardcover edition will be automatically entered with a chance to win as long as we hit my own personal target of copies pre-ordered.  We’re certainly on our way to that target but still need to keep pushing.  That means that if you haven’t already bought your copy or if you know of anyone who would dig a copy themselves go out and grab it before the end of the month both to ensure that the target is hit and also that you will have a chance of winning the signed Russian edition.

(Don’t worry if you’ve already ordered your copy before this comp was announced, your entry will still be valid).

Katja From The Punk band was the second top-selling pre-order book in November when it was initially released on Horror Mall so let’s make it the number one selling pre-order for it’s final month of January!

CZP Announce Amazing Distro Deal

Monday, December 7th, 2009

Just heard from Brett Savory over at ChiZine Publications that they’ve struck an amazing deal with Diamond Book Distributors for both UK and US distribution of their books!

What this means is that CZP’s books will be far more readily available in both the US and the UK and this includes Katja From The Punk Band as the deal will cover existing and future releases for them.

You can find out the full deal here but it’s great news for them and in that regard for me too!

PUBLICATION NEWS – Katja From The Punk Band accepted by ChiZine Pubs!

Monday, June 29th, 2009

Having  just signed and returned the contracts I can now officially confirm that ChiZine Publications have accepted my novel KATJA FROM THE PUNK BAND for publication in 2010!

The full details (as they currently stand) are that there will first be a March 2010 release for a limited edition hardcover followed by an April 2010 paperback release.  Cover artwork will be done by Erik Mohr (who has done all the other ChiZine Pubs book covers) which will mean this will be the first book i’ve published that I’ve not actually done the cover for too.  CZP have a distribution deal with the Literary Press Group right across Canada so the book will end up in stores nationwide over there plus will hopefully make it into some US/UK indy bookstores too with the hardcover being available exclusively through Horror Mall.

So pretty cool news for me.  So far all my major work has been published by Prime Books whom I continue to have a relationship with, however I do think it will be interesting to work with another publisher on this project.  I have to admit my surprise at Brett (the publisher at CZP) accepting it as I thought it might have been a little outside of the sphere for what they were looking for but both him and his editor and wife Sandra loved the manuscript which is nice to hear.

Katja From The Punk Band is a short industrial crime novel featuring a cast of characters whose stories wrap around one another as they all try to get their hands on a chemical vial.   Fast-paced, written in short chapters, and designed to drag the reader along in top gear, Katja From The Punk Band is something a bit different from me but should be enjoyed by anybody who likes me stuff as well as (hopefully) bringing in some new readers.

You can find out more about the book on my site and of course I will post any updates or news relating to it in the usual places.
