New Short Story Started

I’ve begun work on a new short story which I’m writing with the proposed CATASTROPHIA anthology, to be published by PS Publishing here in the UK,  in mind.

The anthology is themed around catastrophes/apocalyptic scenarios and is being edited by Allen Ashley with a Summer 2010 release on the cards.  Post-apocalytic stuff isn’t exactly a stretch for me but I wanted to come up with something that might interest them a little more than nuclear holocausts and viral outbreaks or climate catastrophes.

The story, yet to be properly titled, is based around the idea of the planet being affected by strong electromagnetic pulses of unknown (or supposedly unknown) origin that not only causes electrical equipment to be destroyed but also affects the human brain – in effect each pulse wipes out everyone’s memory.

Although the deadline is the end of January the antho will close when filled so I want to get the story in as quickly as possible to give it the best chance as I think it might end up stretching the word count a little.  I’m already 2.5K into it so stay tuned for more info…
