Molly is a n*vel that I started and finished the first draft of about three years ago now, shortly after finishing Katja From The Punk Band.
The main character, a girl who is covered in tattoos that look like burns, was lifted from an unpublished novella called 802.11b (which shows you how long ago that was written...) but pretty much utterly changed and overhauled. The first draft came in at around 55,000 words so is obviously quite light and the book is more mainstream in that it is explicitly set in "our" world and although there are a lot of indsutrial elements I wouldn't term it an industrial n*vel.
The basic story is that of Molly, a young girl who is covering her body in realistic burn-wound tattoos and her life. She stays in an apartment with her anorexic flatmate Jimmy (Gemima) and suffers from irregular fugues in which reality and fantasy become mixed. She also makes a regular habit of confessing to crimes she hasn't committed for reasons which even she doesn't fully understand. The story is set against the historical backdrop of Kurt Cobain's death and previous influence and progresses as information as to something awful which has happened in Molly's past is gradually revealed.
The story is going to get a major overhaul on its second draft which will completely change some of the characters and give more backstory to Molly and Jimmy. With my current workload it'll likely be early 2009 that I'll start on this second draft - hopefully.
