At any time I'm usually working on a few short stories (though nowhere near as many as I used to unfortunately thanks to a little creature named Freya Rose) and the following is a brief list of some of the ones that I'm working on at the moment. Some of the titles are just working titles and will most likely be changed before submission/publication.
Watch
Completed The first story I completed in 2009, written in a single sitting for the proposed GREAT BRITAIN anthology from Utility Fog Press.
The editor is calling for stories which deal with issues specific to the United Kingdom and mine in particular is set in the near future after a massive Government program is underway which has set up a system of over 45 million CCTV cameras including ones in people's homes. The story deals with the underground network of hacker-dealers that has sprung up in response to it to provide those willing to pay with hijacked footage from the network - parents spy on children, co-workers obsesses about one another, partners watch one another in secret and more ...
I submitted it to the editor in early January 2009 so will wait to hear back from them.
A Whispered Apocalypse
Completed I wrote this one for the proposed PS Publishing anthology CATASTROPHIA which was looking for fiction that deals with apocalyptic and post-apocalyptic scenarios, specifically massive events such as alien invasion, nuclear holocaust and the like. My story deals with a world which has been affected by electromagnetic pulses that wipe out anything electronic as well as the human brain and follows one survivor as he tries to find his way to safety and find a family that he's not even sure still exist...
This was eventually rejected by the CATASTROPHIA editor, Allen Ashley, so I'm going to be sending it out to alternative outlets next.
Nuclear Shadows
Completed and now available via the Cinema Spec anthology. A short piece written specifically for Raven Electrick's Cinema Spec anthology, dealing with an apocalyptic future in which a glitter journalist still seeks to find one of the celebrities that he used to cover.
As is so often the case this one is like a little sketch for my longer works, in particular to the (at the moment very vague) follow up to GUERRA and, to a lesser extent, GUERRA itself. The piece was gratefully accepted at the end of October 2008 and was published in May 2009.
Swing Vote
Currently Plotting A politically-based story set in the near future and inspired by stories along the lines of Phillip K Dick in which ghostly agents seek to manipulate people during an election campaign.
